Libertad is a short film that tells the story of the incredible Alejandra Santiago, a transgender woman from Oaxaca, Mexico, living in California and whose life transcends many borders.
Libertad es un cortometraje que narra la historia de la maravillosa Alejandra Santiago, una mujer transgénero originaria de Oaxaca, Mexico, que vive en California y cuya historia de vida trasciende diversas fronteras.

Brenda Avila-Hanna is an independent filmmaker born and raised in Mexico City and currently based in the Bay Area. Brenda received a Master’s degree in Social Documentation from UC Santa Cruz. She has also directed fiction and documentary films in Mexico and the USA mostly about women and immigrant rights. Brenda occasionally teaches a course entitled Visualizing Human Rights in Latin America at the University of California, Santa Cruz.
